PricewaterHouseCoopers (PwC) head of people Gaenor Bagley has noted the strong demand for
audit jobs in the UK among women after high applications for a new mentoring scheme.
The new initiative was aimed at promoting
audit jobs to young women, with female students invited to shadow female parters and directors at PwC.
As part of the scheme, students would attend meetings, work with clients and with other PwC teams all while gaining exposure to the firm and experience of working in a leadership role.
The new initiative has proven extremely popular too with nearly 400 applications received by the
audit recruitment team for the week-long undergraduate summer placement.
As part of the programme those with an interest in
tax jobs and other roles at the firm will also get a chance to explore other offices at the firm.
Eventually, those students that impress during the placement will go on to interview with the option of then returning as an intern or full-time trainee.
Commenting on the scheme, Ms Bagley said: "We think it's right to share our expertise with talented students to help them reach their potential."
"We're keen to show the variety of opportunities available to everyone at PwC and give a true insight into what it takes to make it to the very top in a firm like ours."
